Originally operating out of Montego Bay in Jamaica (1981) and founded by Gordon Stewart, Sandals has grown into one of the best known hotel and holiday providers for the Caribbean region. Jamaica was the base for several of Sandals' properties in the early days including expansion into Ocho Rios.
The first move outside of Jamaican came in 1991 with the opening of the 'Sandals Antigua' resort. Now the company has 24 resorts across the Bahamas, Barbados, Antigua, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Lucia and the Turks and Caicos.
Sandals accommodation in Jamaica includes: Montego Bay, the Royal Caribbean, Negril, South Coast, Ochi and Royal Plantation. In the Bahamas Emerald bay Hotel and the Royal Bahamian are the places to go. In St.Lucia Sandals have the Regency La Toc, Grande. St Lucian and the Halcyon Beach. Antigua has the one resort, Grande Antigua as does Grenada. Barbados has two, the Barbados and Royal Barbados.
The Sandals website is really very excellent - probably expected in a hotel provider of this level. Holiday planners are offered aswell as options for groups and weddings. Discounts are covered in the 'specials' section at the time of writing and do feature promo codes from time to time. More generic deals in the form of summer and last minute packages are available with a particular focus on romantic breaks or honeymoons, fitting for the destination.
