Shepherds Lodge

Shepherd's Lodge are a charming group of four rural Shepherd Huts tucked away on the outskirts of Bottesford, near Redmile, a historic village in Leicestershire. These beautifully-presented, single-storey homes enjoy stunning countryside views in all directions, as well as a private and quaint location, making them the perfect base for a romantic getaway. Each hut offers an en-suite shower room, a double bed, a flat-screen TV, a wood-burning stove, underfloor heating, and a fully fitted kitchen. Outdoors, you can take full advantage of the lakeside location, with outdoor furniture, a firepit barbecue, and your own wood-fired hot tub. There is also a covered summer house, the Duck Inn, for guests to use.

It features a dining table, plush seating, hammocks, and a bar area with a fridge to keep your drinks cool — the perfect place to sip your favourite tipple while watching the sunset. At Shepherd’s Lodge, you can enjoy your escape in any way you please. You can cycle through the stunning countryside or dine in some of the area’s fabulous country pubs and restaurants, including the nearby Windmill Inn, which featured in scenes from Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, in Redmile, or the popular 17th-century gastropub Chequers Inn, which serves great food and offers a fine dining experience.

For unique activities, don't miss the Alpaca Centre, a horse-drawn carriage ride, clay pigeon shooting, or a canal boat trip — all of which are within easy reach. Additionally, you can visit fabulous local attractions such as Belvoir Castle, Burghley House, Woolsthorpe Manor (the family home of Sir Isaac Newton), or one of the beautiful market towns of Newark, Southwell, Stamford, and Oakham.
