The nearby market towns of Keswick and Kendal also offer regular markets where you can sample local delights and artisan crafts; Keswick's Theatre by the Lake and Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre also boast a range of plays and stand-up comedy. A short drive brings you to Newby Bridge where you can embark on the steamers that will take you to Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside, where you can enjoy the lakeside vista and stunning scenery, or you can also hop on the steam train that departs to Haverthwaite.

Equally you can enjoy a waterside meal or beverage at a choice of good quality hotels and simply relax, watch the birds and lake activities. Younger party members will enjoy Beatrice Potter or the lakeside Aquarium. Just a short walk away from your cottage is Bigland Equestrian centre for guests who would like to ride.
